profileplus applications - water
A glance at this daily graph immediately shows
a potential problem: The customer's usage never went
to
zero. Such data for a residential customer strongly
suggests the presence of a leak. The FIREFLY can be
set to alert
the reader to this condition during regular reading
and suggest that ProfilePLUS data be retrieved and
analyzed.
This enables utilities to find and repair leaks before the
customer complains or is even aware.
Note: ProfilePLUS data resolution dependent on meter register
resolution.
Water conservation is serious business and enforcement
is difficult and resource-intensive. For this customer,
usage peaks on the high days of this daily graph are within expected ranges
for light commercial lawn
irrigation
(1,800 - 2,000 gallons/day). It also shows that the customer stopped complying
with an "odd-even" watering
restriction partway through the period shown. If enforcement of conservation
measures is necessary, the utility will have hard data rather than having to
resort to "he-said-she-said".
"High Bill" complaints are common. ProfilePLUS
data gives utilities a new tool for settling them quickly
and decisively. What could have caused a usage spike
like the one shown here? The sheer size of the
spike eliminates the possibility that it was the result of a few extra showers
and toilet flushes. Notice the volume of usage
over the course of the spike was just over 9,000 gallons. Also note that usage
dropped sharply on May 14, nearly back to pre-spike levels. Sounds a lot like
filling a swimming pool.
